Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baqaei has hailed the Iranian nation for standing “united and resilient” despite the ongoing US-Israeli war of aggression against their country.
The spokesperson shared a post on X on Wednesday evening accompanied by four images from the mass funeral ceremony held in Tehran earlier in the day for top military commanders who were assassinated on February 28, the first day of the US-Israeli war. Huge crowds attended the funeral procession despite continuous airstrikes by the two regimes.
“Our nation stands united and resilient. This is a powerful glimpse of the Iranian people’s presence at the funeral procession of the martyrs of the cowardly US-Israeli terrorist aggression in Tehran,” Baqaei said.
He added, “The courageous presence of the people in defense of their beloved homeland remains the eternal strength of Iran.”
The US and Israel waged their war on Iran while the country was in the midst of negotiations with Washington to resolve a standoff over its peaceful nuclear program. They attacked Iran despite significant progress cited by American negotiators in the talks.
In addition to military commanders, the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, was also martyred on the first day of the aggression after an Israeli airstrike hit his office in the heart of Tehran.
